What the app stores, and where

Everything you record — spools, filaments, vendors, prints, usage history, drying logs, cost settings and any photos you attach — is stored in a database on your own device.

If you have iCloud enabled, that database also syncs to your own iCloud account so your devices stay in step. This uses Apple's CloudKit. The data stays inside your Apple Account and is covered by Apple's privacy policy; we have no access to it and no way to read it. Turning off iCloud for the app stops the syncing and leaves the local copy intact.

Connections the app makes

Filament Log contacts nothing on its own. Every network connection it makes goes to an address you typed in, and only while the app is open:

Destination	Why
Your Spoolman server	Optional. Two-way sync of your spool database, if you run one. The address is whatever you enter, normally on your own network.
Your printer	Optional. Reads finished print jobs from Moonraker so they can be deducted. Local network only.
Apple	iCloud sync and the in-app purchase, both handled by the operating system.

If you never connect a server or a printer, the app makes no network connections at all beyond Apple's own.

An API key for a Spoolman server or a printer, where one is needed, is stored in the iOS Keychain and is sent only to that server.

Permissions, and what they are for

• Local network. Required by iOS to reach a Spoolman server or a printer on your own network. Asked for only when you add one.
• NFC. Reads and writes spool tags. Tag contents are handled on the device and never leave it.
• Notifications. Low-stock alerts, scheduled locally on your device. No push server is involved, so nothing about your spools is sent anywhere to make an alert happen.
• Photos. If you attach a photo to a spool you pick it through the system picker, which hands the app that one image. The app has no access to your library.

The in-app purchase

Filament Log Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's App Store. The app is told only whether the purchase is active. It never sees your name, payment details or Apple Account.

Children

The app is a tool for 3D printing and is not directed at children. It collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Your data is yours

• Export. Insights › Export CSV writes your spools, prints and costs to a file you choose where to put.
• Delete. Delete individual spools and prints in the app, or use Settings › Delete all local data to remove everything on the device at once.
• Your own server. Data on a Spoolman server you run is yours and is not touched by deleting the app. Remove it there if you want it gone.
• Deleting the app removes the local database. If iCloud sync was on, remove the app's data from iCloud in iOS Settings as well.

Changes

If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, this page changes first and the date above changes with it.
