Oil Change Reminder

Privacy policy

Last revised 29 September 2026

The short version

Oil Change Reminder collects no personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code, and the app makes no network requests of its own. The only thing that leaves your device is your garage, going to your own private iCloud, which I cannot read.

01

What the app stores

Everything you type in, and nothing you don't:

The app never asks for your name, email address or location. The distance a car covers comes from odometer figures you type in, not from GPS.

02

Where it is kept, and who can read it

On your device
In the app's own storage, protected by the device's encryption and passcode, and included in your normal device backups.
In your iCloud
If the device is signed in to iCloud, your garage and its history sync through the private database of the CloudKit container iCloud.ai.frekvens.Oil-Change-Reminder. That database belongs to your Apple Account. Apple does not expose its contents to developers, so I have no way to see, retrieve or delete your records, and there is no server of mine involved at any point. Apple is the processor here, under Apple's privacy policy.
No iCloud
If the device isn't signed in, or iCloud is off for the app, everything stays on the device and the app works the same, without syncing.

03

Reminders

Every reminder, the heads-up before an oil change is due, the one on the day and the odometer check-in, is composed and scheduled on your device as a local notification. Nothing is sent through a push server, and no notification content ever reaches me.

The app registers for background notifications only so that iCloud can tell it when your data changed on another of your devices. It is never used to send you messages.

04

Permissions

The only permission the app asks for is notifications, and only if you allow them. It does not ask for location, camera, photos, contacts, microphone or motion data.

05

What the app does not do

06

Purchases, and what Apple sees

The app is free for one car, and a single one-time purchase lets it hold as many as you like. That purchase runs entirely through Apple's StoreKit: I never see your card, your billing address or your Apple Account. The app gets back one yes-or-no answer, whether this Apple Account has bought the full version, checked on your device. That is why Restore purchase works on a new phone without an account of any kind.

If the app asks you to rate it, the prompt is Apple's own and handled by the operating system; I don't learn whether you responded. Because the app is distributed through the App Store, Apple may share aggregated, anonymous statistics with me, such as downloads per country, and crash reports if you have chosen to share analytics with developers. None of it includes anything you entered in the app.

07

Deleting your data

In the app
Swipe left to delete an oil change under a car's History, or a whole car in the garage. Deleting an oil change removes the odometer reading saved with it; deleting a car removes all of its oil changes and readings. Deletions reach your other devices through iCloud.
On a device
Delete the app. That removes its copy on that device.
In iCloud
iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage, choose Oil Change Reminder, and delete its data.

There is no request to send me and no account to close, because I hold nothing of yours.

08

Your rights

Under the GDPR, the CCPA and comparable laws you have rights of access, correction and erasure over personal data a company holds about you. I hold none, so the honest answer to any such request is that the set is empty. Everything the app knows is in front of you in the app, and deleting it is described above.

09

Children

The app is not directed at children, and it collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.

10

Changes and contact

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, the policy is updated here first, with a new revision date. Should a future version ever collect anything at all, it will say so plainly and ask before doing it. The claims above hold for the version of the app that links to this page.
