Privacy policy

OldLight collects no data. Your photos, and the faces in them, are analysed on your iPhone and never leave it.
There is no account, no server, no analytics and no third-party code. The developer cannot see your photos, your face, or that you have used the app — only the aggregated App Store statistics Apple provides.
With your permission, OldLight reads your photo library to find faces. It starts with your selfies and then looks at the rest of your photos. It reads the image and its date; it does not read locations or anything else attached to a photo. Everything it does with an image happens on the phone, using Apple's own on-device Vision framework.
If you granted limited access, it sees only the photos you chose. Access can be changed at any time in Settings → Apps → OldLight → Photos.
If your originals are stored in iCloud Photos, the app asks iOS for them when they are needed. That download is between your phone and your own iCloud, through Apple — the app has no part in it beyond asking.
Three things, all in the app's own storage on your iPhone:
The video and the average-face picture are made in a temporary folder and cleaned up. The copies you choose to save go into your Photos library and are yours, like any other photo.
OldLight does not sync anything. It does not use iCloud, App Groups or any other shared storage. It sends no notifications of any kind.
Concrete absences, each of which you can check against the app itself:
The two links in the app's menu — Support and this policy — open in your browser. Nothing is sent by the app when you tap them.
OldLight Full is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. The app never sees your payment details. It keeps a single yes/no on the phone recording that the purchase was made, and checks with the App Store to restore it. Apple's handling of purchases is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Because the app is distributed through the App Store, Apple knows that you downloaded it and whether you bought OldLight Full, and may share aggregated, anonymised statistics with the developer — how many downloads in a country, for instance — never who you are.
If the app asks you to rate it, that prompt is Apple's. The developer receives nothing from it other than the public rating you choose to leave.
Delete the app. The face index, your choices and the housekeeping go with it. There is no copy anywhere else, so there is nothing for the developer to delete on request — the set is empty. If you have saved videos or pictures to Photos, they stay there until you delete them yourself.
Under data-protection law you have the right to ask what we hold about you. The honest answer is nothing; you are welcome to ask anyway at the address below.
OldLight is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age. Photos of children in your library are treated like every other photo: analysed on the phone, never uploaded.
If OldLight ever starts doing something this page says it does not — syncing, for instance — the policy will be updated here first, with a new date at the top, and the change will be described in the App Store release notes.
