PawCycle: Dog Heat Tracker

A heat-cycle and pregnancy record for dog owners and breeders, on iPhone and iPad.

Contact

Write to pawcycle@frekvens.ai — a person reads it. If you are reporting something that looks wrong, tell us your dog's average interval and how many heats you have logged; that is almost always enough to explain what the app is doing.

Predictions

There is no predicted date yet

PawCycle needs the first day of one heat before it can predict anything for your dog. Until then it shows an estimate based on her size, because a small terrier and a great dane are not on the same schedule.

What the confidence label means

Estimate
No heats logged. A typical interval for her size.
Low confidence
One heat logged. There is a date, but nothing to compare it against yet.
Getting accurate
Two heats. The app can now see an interval rather than guess one.
High confidence
Three or more. The prediction is built from her own history.

The most recent interval counts double, because bitches settle into a rhythm as they mature. Intervals shorter than 60 days or longer than 540 are ignored as mistyped dates rather than folded into the average.

The predicted date is wrong for my dog

If you already know her rhythm, set it yourself: Settings → Manage dogs → her name → I know her usual interval. That overrides the calculation entirely.

The fertile window

If you have logged nothing but the start date, the window is shown as days 9–15 — the textbook average, and no more than that.

It gets much sharper once the app can see when standing heat began. It reads that from your daily logs: tail flagging or accepting a male settles it on its own, and from day five onwards two softer signals on the same day will do it — straw, pink or clear discharge together with a vulva that has started to soften. The window is then set from the day after standing heat began through six days later.

You can also set the date directly on the heat itself if you know it, which is more reliable than any inference: open the heat and tap Edit.

Heats

A heat is stuck "in progress"

Tap Heat ended on the Today screen, or open the heat and set the last day. An unclosed heat stops counting after 35 days on its own so it cannot run forever, but closing it properly is what feeds the next prediction.

Correcting a date

Open the heat from Today or Insights and tap Edit. Deleting a heat keeps the daily logs from those days.

She has been spayed

Turn on Spayed in her profile. Predictions and reminders stop; her history stays exactly as it was.

Pregnancy and whelping

The countdown runs 63 days from the mating date you record. Most litters arrive between day 57 and day 65, which is why the app shows a window rather than a single date.

From day 57 the whelping watch asks for a temperature twice a day. A reading below 37.2 °C (99 °F) usually means labour within about 24 hours, and PawCycle flags it when it sees one. It is a record-keeping aid, not a diagnosis — if she strains for more than 30 minutes without producing a puppy, call your vet.

If the mating did not take, open the pregnancy and choose This wasn't a pregnancy. The mating record stays; only the countdown goes.

Reminders

A reminder never arrived

Check in order:

Reminders are scheduled on the device itself. Nothing is sent from a server, so they work with no signal — but they are rebuilt when the app opens, which is why a reminder can shift after you correct a date.

New phone, sync and purchases

Sign in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, and your dogs, heats and logs come back on their own. Sync is free — it is not part of Plus.

To bring back a purchase, open the paywall and tap Restore, or use Settings → Restore purchases. Use the same Apple Account that bought it; purchases cannot be moved between accounts.

Manage or cancel a subscription in the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account, or from Settings → Manage subscription in PawCycle. Cancelling stops the renewal; Plus stays active until the period you already paid for ends.

Free and Plus

One dog is free, permanently. That includes unlimited heats and daily logs, next-heat and fertile-window predictions, the calendar, the full pregnancy and whelping countdown, heat, fertile-window and due-date reminders, the widget and iCloud sync. There are no ads and no time limit.

PawCycle Plus adds more dogs and more depth: unlimited dogs, the breeding lab (progesterone and temperature charts, mating records, the whelping temperature-drop alert), regularity and symptom-pattern insights, custom reminder timings with vet checks, and PDF or CSV export for your vet, a stud owner or a puppy buyer.
